Cartridge Loading Below Spec Can Yield a More Natural Sound
Many low-output MC cartridges are spec’d for 400–500 ohms, but loading them at 100–200 ohms often results in smoother highs and better tone, albeit at the cost of a touch of openness. Only your ears can find the right balance. Listen to piano and female vocals to hear where the sweet spot lies for your phono stage.
