Tip 12 Grounded for Greatness Unbox Audio Goa 1.jpg

Why one wall outlet matters:
When different components in your system draw power from different outlets, they can be on slightly different electrical grounds. This can create tiny voltage differences that manifest as ground loops, hum, or subtle noise. By plugging your entire system into one wall outlet, you ensure all components share the same reference ground, reducing the chances of noise and keeping the sound cleaner and more transparent.

Why star wiring is important:
Most power strips daisy-chain the sockets with each outlet feeding the next. This means some components share power paths, which can introduce interference or voltage drop when one device pulls current. A star-wired distribution box solves this by giving each socket its own dedicated line back to the main inlet. Each component gets a clean, equal-power path, reducing crosstalk and maintaining consistent performance.

Benefits you’ll notice:
Lower noise floor, tighter bass, and an overall sense of clarity and stability in your system. Especially with high-sensitivity speakers or revealing setups, this simple power discipline can elevate your system’s performance in a way you’ll hear immediately.

This is such a great post. I am now facing a problem where I need an additional socket or two due to additional boxes being added to my audio setup. I currently have a 6 socket box connected to a dedicated audio line. But with the addition of a linear power supply, an additional clock and USB reclocker - I now need some additional sockets if I need to add any more components.

How would you recommend setting up a distribution box for these analog and digital boxes? Can I use two separate distribution boxes connected to my existing wall outlet to separate my analog and digital gear. This would be the easiest solution to take but it seems like I would be daisy chaining the two additional boxes.
