Toe-In or Straight Ahead?

Not all speakers like to be aimed the same way.
  • Wide-dispersion designs (like JBL 4367) often sound best firing straight ahead, giving a broad, relaxed stage.
  • Point-source designs (like Tannoy Turnberry Dual Concentrics) usually shine with a gentle toe-in, locking in focus and center imaging.
Watch the difference: one straight, one toed-in. Then experiment with your own setup: small angle changes can make a big difference.

Very important area that is mostly misunderstood.
I have my ATCs pointed straight forward whereas my earlier speakers used to be toed in.

.

Surprisingly I only like a bit of minor toe in for my Tannoys (5-10 degrees). Anymore and the stage collapses.

ATCs are a weird beast - they work best with almost no toe in.
