hi all..

1)I was browsing through the yamaha music site of yamaha-india. I found a couple to chose from for AVRs.
I thought RXV-467 is a good choice. :licklips:(any one knows the price of this ..?)
2)coming to speakers .. i hardly had any choice except for the sub-woofers.
No options to pick up for centre and surround other than some naive spekaer packages. Not at all impressive.
3)is it that what is available in the market same as that displayed on the web ..or we can find something more in the market...?
waiting for some inputs
thank you

Yamaha 467 is less than 20k in alpha,Mumbai. You can pair mission spk with them can get from Alliance4,vijaysales.

hi
is avr-467 tough on stock .. i mean how long is the general waiting period to get it ..?

thankx

Speakers are average or bad

I think it has no DTS HD-MA and Dolby True HD support ..have you checked?

Hemant,

Checked Yamaha's site after I posted and features did not look too well (less fancy icons :p ).

Question: If my BD player support DTS HD-MA and Dolby TrueHD then why bother much about the AVR having that? (more questions will follow - am new to AVR world).

Any recommendations other than Denon 1911, Onkyo 608 as I have already read a bit about them.

If the produuct is same
HTR-3063 - HTR - AV Receivers - Audio & Visual - Products - Yamaha United States

Then ni DTS HD -MA and DTHD..

What do you mean support? I mean BD players if streaming DTS HDMA and DTHD through HDMI then decoding in AVR is necessary to enjoy the codecs.

If BD player has 7.1 analogue decoder then you can give analougue out ( 8 RCA cables) from BDP to analogue in of your AVR (BTW many low priced AVR does not have 5.1 or 7.1 analogue in)

It involves 8 RCA cable and wire mess.also need a compatible avr, which in fact may be costlier than AVR with hi def codecs.also I am not expert in BD players ,but do all BD players have 7.1 analougue out? how ia decoder quality?
Also if you buy media player supporting hi def codecs ,you cannot enjoy in older avr...

Don't give too much attention to features. These are like Megapixels (hide actual useful specs and trick buyers).

Regarding Yamaha or any other brand, thing to look for is performance of amplifier. Things like THD, actual watts per channel, THX certification and power supply.

Yes you can decode it in BD player and stream decoded audio via HDMI (LPCM) to AVR.

In practice, it makes life easier if ALL processing(Video + Audio) is done at a single place. Otherwise is easy to introduce issues like lip-sync problems.

AVR happens to be that convenient place. IMHO all 2010 AVRs in mid range would have these codecs.

1) So HD audio decioding is not important? Why
2) Still some older technology AVR with Just DTS and DD decoding are made?
3) When Decoded at BD player and streamed as LPCM ,how avr will decode if it is not supporting Hi Def Decoding?

Decoding : Process of converting compressed audio data to PCM. E.g. converting MP3 to WAVE file.

If BD player is already sending data in PCM / LPCM, AVR need not decode it. All it need to do is Digital to Analogue conversion + Amplification.

NetFreak, thanks. I agree with your statement "In practice, it makes life easier if ALL processing (Video + Audio) is done at a single place". Again am a novice to AVR world but seems I am getting a hang of things.

1) Have a good BD player that does it's job well - extract pciture details and sound.
2) Have a good AVR that does what ...? (pls help so that I can make an informed buy)

What I get is - BR player can be replaced at will but AVR are long term buys.

Just what I gather - anything silly please correct.
