Balanced source output to unbalanced RCA input

Assuming you're using a balanced cable to make RCA-RCA cable, short the shield and return wire at source end and shield floating (unconnected) at destination. The purpose of such construction is to break ground loop (in case the interconnect link is responsible for creating a ground loop). Don't expect improved sonics.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes I'm planning to use balanced cable (dual core coax) for this rca-rca connection. I was under impression that shield will be disconnected at source end. Looks like I was wrong.

I am not expecting any improvement in sonics. I have Audioquest Turquoise Hyperlitz interconnect and diy single core rca with mx rca plugs (non-directional). I found no difference between these two. I'm a cable non believer. But want to make all my future diy interconnect directional as I'm not leaving any loose ends.
