Folks -

This is my first foray into looking to have a headphone setup.

I have a spare DAC, Ifi Zen DAC V2 (which has Balanced and Unbalanced Outputs that can be connected to Headphones) that I am looking to leverage for the headphone setup.

I am looking for a closed back (I prefer them) headphone which has both balanced and unbalanced connectivity options with a budget of max 25K.

It would be great if the experts here can suggest which headphones would fit this requirement at various price points (max 25K) and which also potentially has good synergy with ifi Zen DAC V2.

Would it be necessary to have a separate headphone amp to drive the headphones since the above mentioned DAC does provides pre-amp capabilities ?

For now the proposed chain would be Android Mobile (VLC Player with EQ) --? ifi Zen DAC V2 (USB Input with DAC powered by Allo Nirvana) --> Headphone.

Later on if needed, I can also look at using laptop as a source for music files.

Thanks in advance,

Regards
Sam

Apologies. Forgot to mention, I listen to a lot of genres ranging from Western Classical to Heavy Metal and hence would like to have a sound signature which is slightly bass heavy.

Thanks.

If you are in Mumbai, you can go to headphonezone's experience centre and try different headphones. I also have ifi Zen Dac that I pair with Aune AR5000. Bass is clean and sufficient. You can drive most of the headphones with zen dac 2 without any issues.

If you are ok to used, you can find Rode NTH100 for 11K in classified section.

and Dita IEMs from the same member.

Thank you so much for the recommendations provided @ItsBabu. Will surely try visiting headphonezone's experience centre as suggested.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
