Benq W710ST from Amazon

Hi guys

I have been looking for a 720p projector for quite some time and have decided to bite the bullet.

I searched around for the Benq W710ST and the price seems to be in the region of 60k.

I looked up on Amazon and saw that it will cost me $779.77 (42k) delivered to my home.

Is that a good option? Should I look for something else?

Benq offers the option of giving you a demo at home. You can use that option and see if it helps. Also any support/ warranty that you may require will not be available- pls check with the website.

Sorry, I forgot to add that one main reason for choosing this is because it is a short-throw projector. I want the flexibility of being able to move it between rooms and not mounting on the ceiling. Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of my assumptions, still quite new to this.

I've seen lots of user videos and read lots of reviews - I think quality will not be a problem. As for the warranty, I'm taking the discount on the purchase i.e. 20k as the amount for repair, in case something happens. Repair shouldnt be a problem since this model is available in India.

If short-throw is a major priority, then the W710ST is a good choice. Otherwise, Benq MW519 is stellar value for money with built-in 3d.

one projector i can vouch for is the Optoma GT750E which is 720p, short-throw and also has built-in 3D. Excellent performance all around and I'm very happy with it. I bought it on Amazon as well for around 60k delivered.

Yes it does. If you'll go through AVSforums as well as in this forum, its around the 14-16 months mark that projectors give problems (if at all). See if you can buy from Amazon UK, DE, FR, ES because you are able to get a 2-yr warranty on most products (some EU law). Though it won't be valid in India........its always good to know there is a backup option in-case something major goes wrong.

I don't need to send it Spain, just anywhere in Europe will do. And yes, they will ship it provided you take care of shipping etc (in France I think they are supposed to pay part of the shipping as per local law). The way I look at it.........this is the option i will use if something major goes wrong. In that case, I rather have it fixed from the company itself, rather than some random trainee looking at the projector. My thoughts process was that the two-year warranty will protect me against major and sensitive repairs when the Indian warranty won't (1 yr vs. 2 yrs).

Got the projector and am absolutely loving it. Re-arranged my whole room just to have a wall free to display 110". It looks so good out of the box. You can't explain it unless you see it in person.

Just done about 3 hours on the projector till now. Been busy with work the past weekend. Looks equally good with Tata Sky, especially the HD channels.

Looks so good on the wall that I don't even feel the need to buy a screen right now. Which is probably good as I don't have a dedicated HT room right now.

Fingers crossed about something *major* going wrong though.
