Best AVR suggestion

I saw Arcam 750 in audiogon but only issue is it dont have latest codecs supported and I dont know if it is a big issue.
Does Atmos and DTS X and Auro 3D make big difference?
Again my setup will be 5.2 max.
My HT system is in a L shaped living room and which is not a desired set-up. If I had a dedicated room set-up, I would probably be more discerning. I am happy with the current set-up output. Actually am not too particular about the HT system as much I am about my 2 channel stereo.
Also for the price you are buying at audiogon and if the receiver is in great shape, it will be a good deal. Good luck on your search!

I would suggest to try Marantz 7xxx series or if the 8xxx series seems better and cost effective then trip on it considering that you are only going to use 5.2.2 option.

I am looking for 5.2, two subwoofer (later)not height channels.
Denon 3400 is a good choice but I think they use differetn DAC in 3400 and 7200.
7200 used AKM AK4490 which seams to be a good one. Denon 3400 website didnt mention which DAC.
Only topline models only they mention details about DAC .How good is Denon 3400?
If it is par with Anthem 510 ?

I think Denon x 3400 has 32 bit DAC..

Anthem 510 though 7.1 AVR doesn't have the capability of Atmos / Dts X.. But Denon x 3400 has supoort for the same.. You may want to consider this feature..

Am not so sure on this, but read somewhere that Anthem (ARC) is limited to EQ ing only one subwoofer.. But Denon has Audyssey has XT32 with has Sub EQ Ht, apply EQ to two different subs..

Does Atmos and DTS X and Auro 3D make big difference?

Next generation of audio..I have the Denon x 3300, using one pair of ceiling speakers.. Though more than one pair would be great on ceiling, one pair is also good even with non Atmos / Dts X content..

3D Sound is not a gimmick as earlier thought by many, including me, but now i have upgraded to a 7.1.4 system, the truth is, there is no looking back after that. So decide accordingly.

Are you using Arcam Avr or stereo amp? I think it is really audiophile class Avr. If I get a good deal I will go with Arcam. But one issue it is not available at all places. I do have a stereo amp but it is not that great for bluerays. I will use avr for only movies.

There is big difference in cost. 8012 is around 3000$ and 7011 is available at good price because 7012 is just launched.
Lot of confusion which will be cleared if I can listen the same content with all options which is bit difficult.

All Denon and Marantz uses 32bit Dac but not mentioning which chip. Of course dacs will be different between high end and mid level model.
You are correct about Anthem it wont allow to set individual controls for two subs even in high end model but people say still it is good.

Hi Mandeep,

One of my friend is saying Yamaha is bit harsh or bright and he sold 3060 and moved to Denon. Can you share your inputs?
In general I dont like sharp highs.

Arcam is used as HT system only.

Sharpness can also come from tweeter

Listen to various combinations of AVR and speakers, perceived sharpness depends on lot of factors. Most importantly listen with your own ears.

Yes you need to ...based then on your actual use, connectivity and features requirement, you can finalise the brand and model...

I would say go for Denon 7200. For under $2000 it has best of everything for movies. Also it has bigger presence worldwide so service would not be an issue. It is from same company as Marantz. Arcam / Nad etc are good if you have a dedicated HT room with high end of everything and music being the major preference. Here Denon 7200 has good power and tons of options to connect speakers and devices + it is well within ur budget.

I dont think there is a big difference between 7010,7011 and 7012. The difference most likely is is HEOS and Audyssey Multi eq editor app in 7011 and Auro 3D, HDMI eARC in 7012. 8012 has increased no. of channels and increased output among others.

Denon 7200 retail price is 2999$ but I guess it is available at a cheaper price now because they are launching a new top line model. But I guess it is a good option because it has lot of power and a good Dac (AKM 4490). I went to one place to demo but they didnt have topline model from neither Yamaha, Marantz or Denon. Good thing is that they could do on the fly switching between avrs. For me Denon and Marantz model sounds similar not much difference but Yamaha had a slightly different signature (I listened an Indian movie song). Again it is difficult to judge as it is necessary to do dB level matching to compare as volume level on Avr alone doesnot gives the same volume level and it is difficult to do it.

Will try to compare top level model but I am not sure if I will be able to do that because most of them dont stock all top line models or dont deal all
the models I want. But as some one said you may not go wrong with any of the top line models but it only boils to your personal taste or liking.

You are correct power wise (max) it s the same but they have added more channels in latest models.
8012 has more power and I guess they use a torroide transformer.
Auyssey Multi eq editor will be helpful for experienced users to tweak but may not be useful for all and for me HEOS is not an
important feature .

Guys,
I am planning to buy an AVR and shortlisted few AVRs.
Marantz 7011, Yamaha 3060, Anthem 720 and Denon 7200. I was using Anthem 510 before and was happy with it.
Can you guys share your opinion, I like warm refined sound and dont like harshness, sorry not very good in explaining sound.
I will be pairing it with Salk Song 3A speakers. For stereo I will be using Devialet integrated so will be using AVR for movies (blue ray and DVD).
At present I have only two speakers and will add center/subs in near future. My setup will be maximum 5.2.
It will be in living room and size is 16*22 and listening position and setup will be 16 feet between walls.

I know it is better to hear same content side by side and decide but that is bit difficult even though I am in US. But will try to listen before buying.
Would like to know the opinion from all of you.

Thanks in advance.

Why spend so much? Buy a cheaper receiver and spend more on speakers. I can suggest Yamaha tsr7810. It has preouts if you want to add an amplifier later on and can do 5.2 or 7.2 or 5.2.2 in Dolby Atmos.

Speakers sound very different but there is hardly any measurable difference in amplifiers. It is just marketing. Most of the times we use less than a watt per channel.

I would agree with you. That is a $3000 speaker if I am not mistaken. Diminishing returns after this price point maybe

Yes. Then save some money. Most of the time people overbuy electronics (me included). My uncle bought a smart TV 5 years ago and he still doesn't have internet.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage Speakers in Walnut finish at a Special Offer Price. BUY now before the price increase.
