Hi,

Need help in finding the best AVR. Need to find the best from the following Pioneer LX88, Marantz 7009,Anthem MRX 710 and Yamaha RX-A3020. My present speakers are PSB Image T6 and its center C5.

This is going to be my third upgrade. Started from Onkyo 609, upgraded to NAD T757. Now looking for the best, for my room and speakers.

I have heard from experts that Anthem is the best in room correction. Mine is living room so I think room correction is important, my present AVR is NAD T757. Its room correction is not good. I was interested in Anthem but looks like Anthem cost has gone sky high. So I am not sure if it is really worth the money Indian dealers are quoting.

I am in Japan right now for an assignment. I can get all Japanese stuff but I know voltage is an issue  but will try to get good transformer from here itself, if it is not very heavy. Please let me know your suggestions or ideas.

Thanks
Renjith

I don't know much about other digital room correction feature.... But i have been using Onkyo AVR which has Audyssey Multi EQ XT32, which is very good after calibration...

Now that Onkyo has dropped Audyssey, Marantz & Denon AVR still have this feature... Only the top models from Marantz & Denon have XT32... You can consider them too...

Here is a link that evaluates various Digital Room Correction systems http://translate.google.co.in/trans...imedia/acoustics-correction.shtml&prev=search

i had used following avrs before anthem
denon 1604,,onkyo 606, Yamaha 836, denon 4310, rotel pre pro now anthem mrx 510 as pre ..... my vote definitively anthem:):)

Thanks Karthi. I too like Anthem from few experts.

But the price of it is very high now. In India 510 is around 162,000 and 710 is 207,000. One year or slightly more I got a quote the of 90,000 Rupees. So I am surprised why this much rise in India. US it is still the same two year old price. I do understand that dollar has gone up, but the increase in price looks much more than that.

Which power amp are you using with 510?

Thanks Karthi. I too like Anthem from few experts.

I heard MRX310 and other than power,I was not impressed. It was connected to Paradigm towers ans still soundstage was smaller than marantz AVR(sr6006) in demo room.Room correction was not done.I asked dealer,he said it can improve 10 to 20% max.
You can listen MRX710 though. But preamp section of all models are identical.
SR7009 can be good option.Still demo and decide.

Anthem MRX 510 price in Canada is 100k rupees equivalent and 710 is 125k.

The indian prices are just pumped up and hyper-inflated, that is all.

I heard Anthem 710 in concert with Paradigm Monitor 11 and it was mind-blowing to say the least

Hi Krishnamurthy,

You are correct, the price in US and Canada is much cheaper compared to India.
I too heard mixed comments from people. Some people are very happy with Anthem and few said they are not impressed. Again it is a personal preference. If I can hear it in my room it should have been the best option. Room makes a lot of difference. ARC is very good or best that is what I heard.

Hence too much confused. In India difficult to have home audition.

Hi spirovious,

Thanks for the info. My present AVR is in the same price range as Marantz 6009. I have heard 6009 with my system long back and was not impressed. Few guys say 7009 is entirely different from 6009. Not sure.

I have heard mixed opinion about Anthem. Some people are very happy and some are not happy. So I am confused a lot now.Second thing is the sky high price which is against Anthem. Few experts in US suggest go with Anthem 510 and add a power amp if required as the best option.

Any idea about Yamaha 3020? I can get it at good price as it is not the latest model . It has same everything as the latest yamaha 3040but doesnt support Dolby Atmos. I am not keen very keen on Atmos as I dont have more than five speakers. Does Atmos make really big difference?
from Japan. The menus will be in English or Japanese?

Thanks
Renjith

Hi Karthi,

I tried in Dubai and it is not readily available and they need two weeks time to procure it. Voltage advantage is there.

I heard 310,may 510 better due to more power. As preamp is same in all 3 models, adding poweramp to 310 makes sense.some extra features in other models will be missed though.
Now coming to marantz,I found their 2 series sound totally different in HT.
I compared SR6006 with SR6008 in same place and found 6006 has much bigger soundstage than 6008.SR6008 has edge in clarity due to HDAM.So take demo to decide. You cant simply go by name or series.
I had heard earlier Yamaha avantage series, but they were ok.So demo is the way to decide.:)

HDAM is there in 7009 also.I know just asking people is not the way. I may not like what others like and it is always personal preference. I know that home demo is the best option. But now I am in Japan. So let me think what to do.

Looks like no one else is giving there opinion. Based on Balas post, who has tried lot of gears I am inclined to Anthem but not sure if it is worth the present cost. Hope I will be able to take correct decision. Please do let me know your thoughts guys.

Anthem MRX 510/710 are price-hyped in India. They are very good but need expensive speaker gear to shine. You may wish to check CA651R or CA751R as they are nice as well.

CA751R room correction is basic I guess. That could be an issue in my case. Otherwise I know CA AVRs are good. So not sure about it.

Can you guys share your thought on Denon AVR 7200. I can get it from Japan which will be almost similar to Indian price for Anthem 510.

It has Dolby Atmos, tons of features and it is 2999$ in US. It has Audyssey Platinum Suite (MultEQ XT32) . Given a choice for the same price will you go for Anthem or Top line receivers from Denon X7200, Yamaha3040 or Marantz 7009 and Pioneer LX 88. I can get all these in same price range of Anthem from Japan. Of course I need to get converter from Japan or India.

Anthem I need to buy from India. Please share your suggestions.

Thanks

My personal preference:

Yamaha 3040 -> If I have more dent towards music over movies in both 2ch or multi channel modes. Having heard the 3020, I can guarantee the sound to be very refined.

Pioneer LX 88 -> If I have more dent towards movies over music.

Thanks rishiguru for your suggestion.

I have read from some review that Pioneer could be bright with few Speakers. So we should pait it with proper speaker. But it has class D amplification.

new LX series is not that bright.I heard LX57 short time in Mumbai exhibition and found very good paired with Kevlar speakers. It was not that loud though, but sound was not lean.
