Beware of Tata Sky policies!!!

i thoughts I will share some of the pitfalls me and some of my friends faced with Tatasky's hidden policies (rather not hidden but well disguised!)

1. If you have HD+. Then anytime you change a package, all your recordings will be deleted!!! yes, irrespective of whether the channel is part of the new package or not. For example, I am in Grand Package and have recorded Dexter. Now I shift to Mega Annual Package. All my recordings, entire box is wiped clean!!!

2. HD is not part of Annual Mega Package for tataskt HD+ viewers

3. Truchoice means you have to add channels individually. You cannot add some channels and optional packages. As in, for example, I cannot add Star World + English Movie Package. Even if you do that, they wont charge 45 rs for Eng Movie Package, rather they will charge 88rs which is the sum of all english movie channels.

4. Any showcase movie you record, is deleted the next day. Next day starts at 12 am. So lets say you recorded a movie at 9 pm, 12 am it gets deleted!!!

For me the 1st point was real sucker punch, as I had so many things stored now and I will loose them all!!!

Please add if you know more things, we should know about
 
To clarify this:

1) Yes its mentioned the website.

2) HD Pack is part of the Annual Mega and Annual Mega Pack lite as well.

3) Again wrong info, U can add STAR World and English Movie Pack.

FYI, With any Tru choice pack u can add any alacarte channel.

eg: Supreme Sports Pack + Star World (Rs 5)

But if u meant Makemy pack, have subscribed to channels on Tata Sky on a-la-carte basis. Can I subscribe to optional packs?
If you have subscribed to channels on an a-la-carte basis then you cannot subscribe to optional packs E.g. if you have selected some channels worth Rs 150 monthly subscription, you CANNOT opt for optional packs. So packs like English Movies orSports Platinum or Cosmo will not be allowed.

However, you could change over to a TruChoice popular pack & then opt for optional packs like the English Movies or Sports Platinum.

4) This not only applies to Tata Sky but to all DTH ops who have recorders the PPV movies will be deleted after a day or 2.
 
Jignesh: Yes its mentioned in the website, never said it aint, its more of warning so people are aware. Please read the first statement i made. This is more of an educational post.

2: The site sates and so did the CC:

3. You got what I stated incorrectly. Your example includes one base package "i.e supreme sports package". My need is , i dont want any base package. All I need is Eng Ent + Eng Movies + Hindi Movies + HD Gold. This is not available. If I do this combination they wont charge package rates but independent channel rates!!

Yes what you are saying is right and what I meant also is right. Its more of clarification again. For people like me wont dont read deep into FAQs and think truchoice means really true choice :)

4. So? Whats you point? I didnt know and I am trying to tell people about this problem so that they are aware of it when they change plans! I would request to make a complaint against this so that TS might do something about it.

Do understand again, this post is an informative one! not a foul post which cries TS is cheating!

For TS+ HD subscribers HD Gold pack is available in Annual Mega pack

Thanks man, the cc told it's not included as part of annual for tat a sky hd also will call them again! Hopefully this time they will give me the correct info
 
Acutally shouldnt delete what we recorded ! !

1) we paid for HD+ recording STB

2) we paid for subscricption

3) no body can watch the same thing again and again (say in 24 hours of time ) but after a 1 week time



we must report this to consumer court ! !

guys it would be good to buy one camera and record from TV out
 
I didn't get my recordings deleted when my subscription was temporarily deactivated. Just that was unable to see the recordings (I believe this is also INAPPROPRIATE of TS - as the recordings were done when the subscription was active - so I PAID for those recordings and should be able to see them ANY TIME). However, when those morons reactivated the connection, I was able to see them normally.

Ram, please confirm through CC why it happened to you, I strongly believe, it should NOT happen, ever. Max which could happen is if that channels is not subscribed when you want to watch that recording, you would get unsubscribed message like I got. Please ESCALATE to the highest levels like CEO and MD and ASK for EXPLANATION. This is simply UNACCEPTABLE even if it happens accidentally.

We record the content to ENSURE that we can watch them later. We are already struggling by INACCURATE recording start and stop times which does not change even if we add time to start and stop times. I will report this to TS if they do not fix this in the new firmware they are going to release in the next few days (got this info from a TS engineer who visited me to check the quality issues).
 
So the recording fiasco is dat if any subscriber is on Old Package (Super Hit or Super saver) and if he moves to Tru choice packs or makemy pack den recordings will be deleted, if anyone moves from Tru choice (Grand sports to Economy) den the recordings will be der as it is.
 
Absolutely, its UTTER RUBBISH, why should we loose recordings after switching the plan or if the connection is deactive (we should be able to see them as we PAID for the content when the subscription was active and Tata Sky has NO RIGHT to delete them without our consent!). We should take them to consumer court if they do so no matter if its documented.
 
I would like to bring to the notice of the forum members another problem I am having with Tata Sky+. After several members of this forum praised the Tata Sky+ package with the recorder and Maha package for Rs.9,300, I also opted for it. There were some initial problems when after connecting for two days, the service was terminated unilaterally. The service was restored after two days when I complained endlessly.

I have another problem now. I have not received their copy of the invoice. I was promised that an invoice would be sent within a week. Even after a month and repeated reminders, I am still to receive the invoice. I don't know why they are reluctant to issue an invoice even after they got the full payment. I would appreciate it if the forum members could share their experience on this.

Boy i am glad that I didn't take the plunge & buy the tata sky+ hd. I thought HD broadcasting in India has a long way to go. Looks like a lot of other things also have a veerrrry long way to go. So, it's better to stick to plain vanilla dth for now
 
Even I never got ANY INVOICE for the Rs.3999 I paid for the connection and STB. Did ANYONE ACTUALLY got the invoice??? Seems we were too ignorant to request for the same.
 
i think i was the fist customer who faced an issue with the deleted recording due to change of packs. i was so furious i sent the nodal officers some really harsh worded mail. the next day one of their very senior execs called and clarified regarding it and they thereafter promised to put up a detailed FAQ which they did quite a few months back.

the gist of what he said was everytime you change channel packs (base packs that is, not add ons ones) the serial number of your tata sky plus box changes. thats why one is not licensed to watch the recorded stuff from a settop box with a different serial no (the previous one). yeah its pretty much troll-tech bullshit. but then thats closed source for you. the company chooses your experience not the other way round.

erm werent you given an invoice during installation? i clearly remember the tata sky dude handing me one and asking me to sign on one of the duplicate receipts.

I will double check on that, however only thing I remember was to sign on the work order!

Again, this is UTTER RUBBISH from TS end and they can not give such FOOLISH excuses. Why would the serial number change on the box if we change packs. Also, why does the box validate our serial number against that channel and even downloaded VOD content is unavailable unless our account gets activated?

Technically we have PAID for those recordings and irrespective of whether we are current subscriber, that should not stop us to view those recordings. This is really a no brainer and we should COLLECTIVELY campaign against such practice by TS for their incompetencies. Those recordings may mean A LOT to us and we very well PAY for them when we record and these MORONS can not take them away just because we change the package. This can well count for cheating even if they have updated this in their FAQ, and no they SHOULD NOT control WHEN we see those recordings as WE DAMN PAY for them before recording including Showcase Movies and should ALWAYS get the freedom to view them whenever needed (unless we run out of disk space).
 
dont know if this is policy issue but I would share my experience with TS.

Am subscriber of TS since three years, with TS HD and Std TS connections.

One month back I ordered TS HD+ to replace my TS Std, Technicians came and did the installation, and removed/replaced my old Std TS with HD+.

Couple of days back TS marketing calls me for marketing upgrade to Annual Mega Pack, since I have three connections at my home I only need to pay addtional 160 per additional box. (to my horror) I asked him but I have only two box connected and one Std box in my attic.

After many calls with CC and escalations I had to cancel my third unused connection for which I paid charges for one month unnecessarily.

I am shocked to find their attitude that they had guts to tell me that...

1. Technicians do not know the policies of TS whether they should convey to customer that their Set top is being replaced or being added as new connection to my account.
2. Customer should cancel unused connection on their own.
3. Marketing guy told me that I need to recharge complete 1800 per additional connection for entire one year, but CC folk told me it would be still deducted per month basis then what the point of recharging for one year at one time.

Many folks @cc I talked during whole episode kept giving wrong incomplete information about the cancellation process i.e. I should send mail to cc with set top box ID, later on they did it on call but still insisted for ID, later when I got ID they claimed they dont need that.. :mad:

Any ways now I am tied up with TS for one whole year with annual mega pack.

Did anyone hear or get the "Business World" magazine delivered? I thought they had mentioned this as an offer on buying the HD+ box with Mega pack..
