I have just ordered Onkyo 609 receiver from US. I will use only stereo mode to start with. My primary source of input will be SPDIF output from pc.

1. Which bookshelves should I go with (audition) for around 30k
2. Is it worth getting bookshelves from US, will I need to transformer for that also ?

Where did u get that 4ohm info?

The nominal is 8ohm and minimum is 4ohm. Please read the specifications carefully.

Dosent matter what the manufacturer claims, this requires at least a 4ohm capable amp!

to the OP
If you are buying these speakers, ensure the amp is capable of driving 4 ohm loads. The Onkyo 609 does not have the juice in it to power such speakers. Check out NAD.

Though Onkyo 609 is not certified for 4ohms speaker drive like HT-RC370,it has a setting in menu to select either 4ohm OR 8 ohm.609 has a power supply of 610W & can drive 4ohm speakers at moderate volume.

I Agree, but only to an extent. Moderate volume and 2 channel driven. Driving a 4ohm load might work out with 2 channel's, but 5 and 7 channel's is a totally different story. I would presume that at moderate volumes it shd drive the B6 even 5 channels, but this is highly speaker dependent (more demanding speakers, more juice needed).

I doubt one can expect someone to play it at moderate volumes all the time...eventually one will turn the knob :yahoo:. I would suggest a more capable amp, NAD's are known to drive 4 ohm loads well.

I also think the Onkyo might heat up while driving the PSB's, I do not have warranty after importing so may be should not take the risk but still not sure.

Since the Onkyo 609 has already been ordered, it would be better to search for speakers that are suitable/easy for it to power, rather than changing the amp/AVR.
