Hello to everyone and best wishes for the New Year ahead.

Need your help. I was told i would get a accurate and experienced advise through this forum.

Basically I am looking for a music system which reproduces clear treble and good bass and good vocals. Each instrument which is played should be heard cleary at low volumes.

I have heard Bose, Klipsch, Polk. But am yet to hear B&W, Focal, Marantz.

Kindly advise, which is the best speaker available today. I have a budget of 80k. I do not intend to buy a home theatre.

At 80k i can get a home theatre but then i have doubts about the quality of the speakers.

So even if i get two speakers (floor standing or Book shelves) with a woofer that meets my requirements mentioned above, then i would definitely buy it.

I was told Floor standing speakers are better than bookshelves. But that is the next step for me. The first step is identifying the brand, that i should go for.

Kindly advise the model and price. Also please advise the dealers where i can get this system in Delhi - India.

Thanks a lot once again and keep threading :)

Richard

What about amplifier, sources, etc? Does 80K include all that.

If 80K is for speakers alone, look at Dynaudio as a brand. They make excellent speakers.

Cheers

Get B&W Their are the best of which i have heard !!!! Specially B&W 804
Amp go for marantz they are musical

I was told Floor standing speakers are better than bookshelves.

That is a very incorrect statement. Rule of the thumb is, since floor stander have better low end extension, would result in unwanted booming due to room reverberations in a small room muddying the rest of the sound spectrum.

Please mention your room size.

Thanks for the input captrajesh, prithvi and venkat.

The room size where the speakers would be placed is 17ft X 11ft.
1lac is the maximum budget including amplifiers and other sources.

There is a B&W and Rotel combo available for sale . PLease check the forsale by owner section.

PS: Only if you are ok with a pre-owned setup or please ignore this msg.

Hello Friend,

Can I have more information about the availability of Rotel Amp and B&W 683 along with the price?

I can be contacted on 9820444650. I may look to upgrade my system basically. I will appreciate if I get a call or more information on possibility to buy these two.

Best regards,

To my humble opinion B&W speakers are suitable for Pop music but if you are interested in classiical music B&W will not suit to you.

first off

im pretty sure you will find it dfficult to fit a dcent B&W speaker and solid matching amp and a source in 1 lac
actaully if youre selecting B&W you may find it difficult to work in that budget

a B&W would require a solid amp ( budget amps just wont do) especailly since you know what you want (clear and accurate music in LOW volumes)
that requirment needs a lot of work in amp selection
No budget amp will cut it
for that to work youre looking at a minimum of 40-50k on the amp itself
and i would consider that money well spent if you are looking for the quality stated above

that leaves about the same for the speakers
for 40-50k all you will get are BUDGET floorstanders
i would advice you get a good bookshlef instead which when fed by a decent amplifier as stated above will give you far better results than a 30-40k entry level floorstander
Please note above is my personal opinion only)

Look at something like a Quad12L2 ( probably above 40k) , of a Monitor Audio RS/Rx1 or maybe even a PSB Synchrony bookshlef
otherwise convince/plead Sidvee here

to sell you those Dyna Audios for the superb price he was offering it

pair that with an amp like an AudioLab 8000/8100 etc
or an Exposure
a Denon PMA 150or an Arcam A28

and that will be 1 lac well spent

you may probably have to up your budget to about 1.15 lac to include a decent source like a NAD 542/545 CDP
but its worth it

@magma is spot on with his advice. forget abt B&W being the greatest their budget speakers which are the 6 series are no good.

Apart from the ones magma said I would also add the Epos M series speakers to the list.
