Hi,

I have a Vu TV with underwhelming audio. I recently got a pair of Onkyo SKF-380 (120W/6Ω) Speakers with Onkyo SKW-380 (130W/6Ω) Subwoofer (no AVR).

Q1 - Is it worth trying to use the above speakers to enhance the TV audio and have a descent & budget system for casual audio / video experience?
Q2 - Can someone guide (or point to any existing thread) where I can explore buying or DIY-ing a 2.1 amplifier? Can I use TPA3116 D2?
Q3 - If I also get the Surround Speakers, i.e. Onkyo SKR-380 (120W/6Ω), will I able to use them in series / parallel with the above L/R speakers to enhance the sound?

I myself may not build a circuit, but ready to explore with some technician's help. I am located at Kolkata and will visit Chandni Chowk market if I get proper guidance.

Thanks,

Kamal

I bought ZK-MT21 apmplifier board today for 700. Hoping to use an old laptop adapter to start with. And later add 24v, 6a SMPS for 450.

TV has 3.5 mm out and the amplifier board has 3.5mm in. So - planning to use that and see how it works.
Well those headphones out are usually not great. Results could be below par. By when will the setup be complete?

Ok. Thanks for the warning.
Will try RCA to 3.5 converter as next step.

Meanwhile, trying to see if any of my old laptop adapters has a compatible barrel connector. Otherwise - may have to buy one (connector or converter).

Don't think I can finish before Tuesday (if I am lucky to find a compatible adapter). Otherwise - another visit to Chandni for the converter next weekend.

Will put an update here.

Oh okay. If you love this direction then it's great. If not then do consider the links I posted and get down to enjoying music on a reliable system, sooner. That's just my opinion.

This shall work better than any sound bar
It will be better to purchase a readymade amplifier
You can connect rear speakers in series along with the subwoofer
For connection you can use inbuilt bluetooth feature of the amplifier

Update...

Got the setup working.
ZK-MT21 for 700 and 450 for 24v, 5a adapter. Total cost of 1150.

Reused: L and R Speakers, Subwoofer, Speaker Cables, 3.5 mm cable.

Descent sound. Bluetooth enabled. Control of Master volume, Subwoofer volume and frequency.

Overall, very happy with the result.
