Budget Projector and screen

Dear Friends,

First of all thank you for sharing your ides, experience and knowledge in this area.

I live in Hyderabad. I have a 46" sony LCD TV with sony home theater. now, am planning to go for something big like projector and screen. I live in a flat in an apartment. My living room size is 17ftX15ft. Am planning to have a drop down or pull up screen(100") with a projector.

Kindly suggest me the approach and things to do etc... I can spend max 40K for screen and projector. Even am ok to go for used projector. Will it be cost effective if I get the projector from US through someone?

Avitronics, 97 S.P. Road, Secunderabad (40-2784 6175) were offering an SVGA rated Epson projector for about Rs.35,000. AV Vision Equipments (India) Pvt. Ltd. at Rasoolpura, Secunderabad (040-2781-5419) were offering a "Liberty" brand 100" screen for about Rs.3,500. These prices are about 6 to 8 months old. They are within your budget. As I mentioned above, the resolution is only SVGA. If you want HDMI quality then you might have to pay more for the projector. Hope this is helpful to you.

My friend is having LG BS275 projector and he is offering the same. Can I take it, will it suffice my requirement.

LG BS275 Projector is SVGA and primarily a business projector. If you are not particular about HD resolutions and other specifications, then do a trial at your friends place to ensure it satisfies your eyes and expectation.

Something to consider while buying a used PJ is the remaining lamp life & the cost of new lamp for that particular model, particularly when you have budget constraints.
