Hi all,
I recently returned from the US bringing with me a Pioneer VSX-815K (yeah, somewhat old and no HDMI) and a set of JBL 160 SICEN speaker set with active subwoofer.
I have a Samsung 32 in LCD TV and CD/DVD players.
The receiver and subwoofer are 110V.
I want to setup my system in a separate room (TV is in living room, but music in different room). My main interest is music (soft rock/pop, western classical, jazz, hindi, tamil, carnatic) but would like to eventually include movies to my setup.
I am not looking to spend too much for now, but would like to have a plan to upgrade over the next 2-3 years.
Some questions:
Is it worth buying voltage converters for the receiver & subwoofer? That means I can delay spending on these. What does a good voltage converter (I saw "Maxine" mentioned in one of the threads) go for? I assume I will need something in the 2000W range. Where can I buy this? I am located in Bangalore.
I don't tend to go for the latest and greatest and was very happy with the receiver in the US. But would like to upgrade the speakers at some point. For TV viewing, I know the lack of HDMI is going to hurt me. How about for music? Is it better to upgrade the receiver first? If so what are the options?
Regards,
-kumar
