Budget turntable advice

Both Rega P1 and Project Debut III are good fully manual turntables requiring some set up. Both of them require you to lift the platter to change the speed, though more expensive models of Project have electronic speed change. Models with in built phono stage are also available. Denon DP 300f,on the other hand, is fully automatic, with built in phono stage. For a beginner it is a good tt.

Get the Denon DP 300F. Its an excellent starter turntable and is fully automatic.
Please do not play records on a turntable fitted with a ceramic cartridge. They will ruin your records.
Please suggest which type catridge is good and why

There is no easy way to answer this.
I am satisfied with something as basic as a Ortofon OM5E (MM) and at the other end of the spectrum a Denon DL-103 (MC). Its down to what you can afford and the sound you want. The latter has been made since the early 60's. Several companies have modified versions of this cartridge. Its so popular due its design and affordability.

Also; I would not plug anything over an DL-103 on something like the DP300F. There are limits to what this turntable can do.

If you are someone who is a causal music listener and just want to play and enjoy their records, an OM5E or an OM10 will do the job. You want to get serious with your turntable and records, you want to head into the world of Hana's, etc

Thats a good starter turn table. Sounds decent, for the money. Its an automatic too so for folks who have never operated a turntable or don't care about lifting the tone arm, this works for them.

There are many flavors of the Marantz turntable and sold under the Denon (DP-29F) name and few others as well. Whichever is the cheaper one, buy that. The Marantz one isn't any better.

The TT5005 has next to no upgradability so keep that in mind.
