Bumpy acoustic foam question

Yes, I also have used something called Black Hole 5, available in the US which is very expensive stiff, and I prefer to avoid it. I believe that Deflex is a fairly popular and more affordable product.

Thanks Prasad for the link , will research a bit more.

As you are looking for speaker project, will Dynamat Xtreme damping sheets help you? This is used as car accessory for damping internals and available locally too. But they suggest for home use also.

Black Hole and Deflex are diffuclt to come by and a headache to import.

I use a combo of 1" open cell foam (similar to the egg crate foam discussed earlier) and dampmat (similar to dynamat - DampMat – Damping material from Audio SymPro). This combo produces a result simialr to No Rez.

1 box of Dampmat and 1.5 3x6 sheets open cell foam works for a pair of tower speakers or for a 3-4 cu. ft. ported subwoofer. For sealed boxes I prefer to use poly fil (Reliance product) instead of open cell foam. For poly fil use about 0.25 kgs per 10 liters (1 kg for 40 liters).
