Reserve bank rules, I don’t recollect the exact date but yes it’s being squeezed for years. They want stuff to come into the country with 100% or above duty and no other way . Also they want to decide what you buy from which country.any idea what are those laws in India which has resulted in this ?
If that's the case....i think it's pathetic! na ? What's their end game....what are they driving at & does all this somehow boil down to the Make in India funda by any chance.Reserve bank rules, I don’t recollect the exact date but yes it’s being squeezed for years. Thank you for reaching out.
We understand why this decision may be shocking and upsetting for you.
Please know it’s not a decision that the business has taken lightly, and we wish this didn’t have to be the case.
Essentially there are new regulations in place in your region that prevent us from being able to operate in a compliant manner.
Discogs reviewed all available options, but for the time being, the only unfortunate realistic option for us was to cease operations.
This means that we are unable to process any transactions from your country, even if you are shipping the items to an accepted region.
Please do not update your Buyer or Seller Settings to reflect a different country, this will still result in a Marketplace block.
Know that this doesn’t mean that we may never again open Marketplace operations in your region again, but for the time being, this is the only available option to us.
We will continue to review the situation in your region, with the hopes that we one day may be able to return.
Please let me know if you have any questions at this time.
Best regards,

Thanks for this. So it seems like it wasn't due to too many scams related to Indian sellers overgrading records and Indian buyers claiming not to receive records when they did like someone suggested.Mail response form Discogs posted by someone on WhatsApp
Are they made by RBI or the govt?Reserve bank rules, I don’t recollect the exact date but yes it’s being squeezed for years. They want stuff to come into the country with 100% or above duty and no other way . Also they want to decide what you buy from which country.
If that's so, we are working from the wrong end. Closeting the economy won't make us competitive. Productivity and innovation would. What's their end game....what are they driving at & does all this somehow boil down to the Make in India funda by any chance.
Completely in agreement with you.Are they made by RBI or the govt?

If thats the case, then we should also receive a warning from ebay. My Indian ebay account which is used to purchase music and electronics from abroad is working fine and there is no mail or message of any kind. Banning sellers i understand due to GST issues but banning buyers i don't understand. May be they should at least allow Indian buyers who purchase from abroad but i think discogs wants to stay away from any law implementation. Indian market is too small and not much profitable for them.Reserve bank rules, I don’t recollect the exact date but yes it’s being squeezed for years.
