Hi,
I am not an expert in Audio side, i am newbee and looking for advices. I am planning to buy a DVD player with USB + HDMI inputs.

I am planning to buy a DVD player from either Pioneer DV 220,420,620 /Philips (3388,3368 ) /Sony as recommended by many in this group . My plan is to purchase from US as i am getting the latest model for lesser price compared to india. Just want to know understand whether those models can work in india, will it has any region issues or not.

Regards

It is not worthwhile picking up a Pioneer from the US. One it will be a 110 volts. And, in most probability, will be locked to region 1. The US retailers do not understand anything other than 110 volts and region 1, unless you can buy from some boutique shops in NY.

Singapore or Dubai will be a better place to pick up Pioneer DVD players.

Cheers

I think you should go for a Bluray player now, like the one available in the link below
OPPO BDP-83 BDP83 RegionFree CodeFree BluRay DVDPlayer - eBay (item 150394338643 end time Feb-01-10 05:13:23 PST)

This oppo model also have a universal power supply( roughly 120V-240V), so no need for a voltage converter, but some doesn't have a universal power supply, you might need a voltage converter.

Most DVD players can be easily made region free (some are region free out of the box) now-a-days, through its remote, but first check online, whether a particular model can be made region free or not.similarly , some don't have a universal power supply & you might need a voltage converter.

Pioneer (especially DV 610 is quite popular) and Sony are both famous here in india.
