It can be seen that the existing cabinet already messed up. It was completed four years ago on an old VCD player. It contains a unitek 140w amp board,a sub woofer amp board and two stereo amps.It also contains 2 transformers and power supply board.
This was assembled for my DVD player which has prologic II.
I watched movies with importance given to sound. my first priority is for sound.

But, after the purchase of sony tv last year, Im using only the unitek amp and subwoofer amp(because of its stereo audio out).(early i dint know about optical out and DAC, and after joining here i know these things).

I have been following the threads of our fellow fm's Bibin, Bijin, Hydrovac, Magma,..., i was amazed by their works.

Now, my requirement is a cabinet only for the 140 w amp and its power supply.
thanks in advance

regards,

I am just happy to see good old Unitek. I know the guys who made amps in the name unitek and few other names too. Still have few of their boards with me. 2N3773 in symmetrical supply is a good amp of theirs.

I guess your 2N3055 amp might get a total of 100 watts max with 48VDC supply. About the cabinet, you can go for a normal amp cabinet from local electronics store.

Also, you can use inverter or old cpu cabinets. Amp cabinets have all the necessary holes pre drilled and functions marked.

hi sarith,
Thanks sarith.
I searched for normal amp cabinets at shops near ekm(almost all,so many years back). But dint liked much. Also inverter or cpu cabinets will not have that professional look. i.e why i put like that.

Its on the left side. After seeing F5 cabinets, i'm inclined to them.

Why not try making it to your own specs? find a metal worker who understand you (if you can't do it yourself) make a design using AutoCAD. it is not dificult as it seems.

Hello Girish,

Ok :). F5 cabinet looks cool and looks worth the money IMHO though I have seen it in photos only. Your present cabinet looks like a Setron VCD player.

I buy normal metal cabinets from electronics stores or make one in wood and use Acrylic face plate and etch the names of all the functions. Below is the image of old face plates lying around (forgot to wipe the dust and dirt) probably made on 2002-04 time.

The face plate on the top of the image has a small 'window' to the right to accommodate a digital timer (LED) which counts down from 5-0 before the system is ready to play music.

yeah diesel engine,
I'm thinking about that. I cant do in metal( because don't have not much tools) , but not bad in wood works. The last work will be posted later.(little off topic though).

Thanks Sarith for your suggestion on acrylic plate.I dint think about that option. I bought some cabs from stores on late 90's. But not satisfied fully.
I will contact our fm Bibin, but not getting much time.( Little busy, i.e why this delay in posting reply also.

Me also din't saw nor listen F5 or pass B1.

I saw your works.thanks for the photos.
