I'm in the process of setting up my HT gear, and I need five sets of RCA male terminated interconnects to connect the preamp processor to the 5 channel amp. Any thoughts about an economical way about doing this? Can I use Cat 5 cable for example? In the past I have used DH Labs Silver Sonic BL-1 cable to build all my interconnects. I prefer to roll my own, rather than buy.

Cheers

Hi GeorgeO,
I did some readings on CAT5 some time ago. My impression is that some people are happy with them being used as diy speaker cables. However, their use as stereo analog interconnect is debatable. Only teflon insulated plenum grade cat5 are to be used for this purpose. For example, look at: Cat5 Interconnects? - Head-Fi.org Community

Click this link (AudioKarma.org Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums - View Single Post - CAT-5 interconnects - Anyone done it?) in the audiokarma forum to find a new meaning of cat5.

Regards.
