I have got an old music system, Aiwa nsx-s222 with 2 speakers. Though the main unit is not working, the speakers are in good condition. As per the specification, it is 15 Watt - 6 Ohm - THD 10%. Made in Japan.

AIWA NSX-S222 Specs - CNET

Any idea whether it is a good quality speakers and can be used if I buy a good receiver supporting 6 ohm,? Or is it better to throw away this and look for a new HTiB ?

Hi, it depends on which Amplifier u r going to buy. 15 watts is a too little rating.

you can pair them with a local amp and see how it performs, i do have 2 philips 3 way speakers which i am powering with a universal amp sounds ok

I am having onkyo ht-s3300 and never satisfied with the music delivered from that (5.1 speakers HTP-380). Then there was pair of 10 year old sony SS-RV999 speakers (which was part of sony DVD hifi system) lying at my home unused. I have added them as front speakers to my Onkyo AVR and the music is much much better now.
