Hi Experts,

When auto mode is on through denon remote,no sound coming through center speaker. When i switch to Direct mode then its working.

I have done some basic checks.plz suggest on how to resolve this.
1.have checked all cables & connection, are working fine
2.TV output is also on auto mode
3.Checked other modes like multi channel,Virtual where center speaker working fine.
4.have recalibrated through auddysy but same result.

My setup.
1.Denon x1400H
2.Two floor standing,One center speaker & 1 Sub

plz suugest

That is how auto mode works. If your TV is sending two channel signal then only the left and right speakers will play. If more than two channel signal is being sent (like via Netflix), the center and surround channels will play.

So, center speaker playing will depend upon the source signal when receiver is set to AUTO.

As already shared by @ssf ir depends what your source is outputting / sending to the AVR.

f you want to ensure all speakers work as needed. Set the Output of the source to Dolby Digital / Dolby Digital Plus.

I have a Firestick (3rd Gen 2021) which is hooked to the Marantz SR series AVR I use. I kept the Audio Settings on Firestick as Best Available. If the OTT content is 2.0 then obviously it will only send L+R signals which then you can adjust the AVR to convert the same to Multi Channel as needed. If its Atmos or DD+. it shows and accordingly the AVR will output the sounds.

Thanks fo reply.
My source of content is attached external drive to TV through USB.Earlier same used & was getting DD+ through auto mode & center speaker was also working. But now its not working in auto mode yes but working in Direct mode.As the source is same for auto & direct mode.

plz suggest

Has any settings changed in your TV ? Please check if sound output is set to PCM or auto. If it is set to PCM, change it to AUTO or any other mode that your TV supports for 5.1 audio. Although PCM supports multichannel audio, PCM in most TV's mean 2.0.

Also, in Direct Mode, the receiver disables features like Audyssey, DSP, crossovers etc. In this mode, the centre channel should not output any sound. If you are getting centre channel output in Direct Mode, something is wrong somewhere in your Receiver.
