Hello Friends,

I need some advise on a center speaker for my HT. I currently have Harman AVR 142 with Bose 301 in the front, Bose Acoustimass 5 series IIi as rear and Bose VCS 10 as center. VCS 10 is not a great speaker to have and lately I hear a lot of distortion on it.

I have listened to JBL studio 120 and Control Now, but did not like the quality too much. Since center speaker is one of the most important component, I seek your help in deciding. I need rich vocalperformance when hearing dialogues. My budget is upto INR 15K.

Please suggest. The amp is 8ohms.

I live around South Delhi, so a dealer recommendation would be nice!!!

Thanks!

Maninder

Why don't you checkout the usual speaker selections such as Polk, Wharfedale, Sonodyne etc.

If you check their websites, you can see the dealer address there too. :)

you should check the sensitivity ( dB) of your front left and Front right spkrs .
Centre Ch spkr should be 1 dB higher than FL , FR spkrs.

In a similar Dilemma.
My new avr 473 has arrived and my center seems to be lacking. Have 100rms Satellite center. Have been thinking of replacing the satellite with a bookshelf center. Of these which would be the best choice?
Wharfedale (anything under 15k)
Sonodyne centre (its under 7k)
Polk Tsi or Rti series Center's.

Please those who have auditioned or used em give me your suggestions. The center should be able to provide rich soun d and obviously need to be loud.

OP Adding to your thread cause our requirement is exactly the same. Hope you dont mind.

If you have a plan for upgrading your front speakers As well in the future, consider the center accordingly. I mean, if your center and fronts are from same brand/series, it would be good.

Considering the paradigns for front in abt a yr or 2. But those babies r for around 25-30k mate.
Also the paradigns will not have a good synergy with the current setup. It will be an overkill.
Hence am hoping for a recommendation, VFM, decent performance to get me through for now. Future setup will consider later.

How good is the sonodyne sonus series btw? the bookshelves as compared to wharfedale 10.2 or paradign atom/mini series???

As far as i know manu george is the only person (In this forum :) who owns Sonus 1501. This can be compared to Diamond 9.1/10.1 & Atom monitor...... Diamond 9.2/10.2 & Mini monitor have bigger drivers (6.5 Inches) than the 9.1/10.1 (5.25 Inches).....

For actual user feedback, you can get in touch with manu george.

Thanks man, will do that. Have actually located a sonodyne listening room in mumbai. And to my utter surprise, in the whole of mumbai, they have only 1 place where their speakers can be auditioned. Croma @ mulund. Might go there tomorrow, lets c...

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
