Centre Speaker: MTM vs WTMW

Most of the centre speakers I have seen/listened to have been of the MTM variety. These have been from MA, QUAD, B&W, Polk, PSB etc...

Then I came across this article, which suggests a WTMW design i.e. a 3way speaker with two woofers for LF. Which design will be better for HT? and Also how do we direct the LF to the centre speaker only, and not to other speakers?

I also saw one centre speaker based on this design. Does this take the workload of a basic subwoofer under 20k.
