Charles Correa, the greatest 20th century Urban Planner and Modern Architect who has been born in India, passes away at the age of 84:

Some of his creations are ubiquitous, like Navi Mumbai, while others stand out on their own as brilliant examplars amidst the sea of mediocrity around them. I salute you, Sir.

(Also noted that another prolific architect, Chevalier Gibson, passed away a few months ago in Chennai. Tragic year for Indian architects, it appears.)

A talented and legendary pioneer who despite being an early Indian grad of MIT, Boston, returned and made his home here! His neice who was my classmate in college was my indirect link to him.

this is a loss of great talent...

throughout history - architecture ( and art ) is one aspect of mankind which we humans live to admire generation after generation.

It takes a visionary and a touch of genius to plan and execute projects that stand the test of time.

A loss of for our country... no doubt..
