Hi, if you search the forum, you'd find multiple answers. Here is a quick recipe -

  • Distilled water
  • Pure isopropyl alcohol (not the usual 'rubbing alcohol' you get at the chemist's)
  • Kodak photoflo

  • Mix the distilled water and alcohol in 80:20 proportion. Add 2-3 drops of Kodak photoflo (it will act as a surfactant).
  • Spray/apply on the record and leave it for a few minutes.
  • Scrub with a cleaning brush or a lint-free cloth in circular motion.
  • Rinse thoroughly with distilled water
  • Let the disc dry before you play

PS: shake well before use ;)

To clean records, first wash with mild detergent then dry with a soft cotton cloth
best and cheapest way

I wash them with regular tap water or sometimes RO water (if tab water is too hard). I use a good shampoo or hand wash fluid. After washing, I wipe with a banyan/Vest (I buy them and never wear them) and finally with kitchen paper towel.
For really adamant dirt, I use Fevicol wood glue, apply uniformly, let it dry and finally peel off the skin.
The above two have given me satisfying results but there are a couple of records that never got fixed!!
