Please give me a reply if you know this.

Is color reproduction on an LCD the property of the panel or the engine/processor?

well both, take for instance the sony 32inch W series and samsung series 6 32inch both use the same panel but colors are different, due to difference in its image processing engine and different backlight.
then there is the famous instance of samsung panel lottery where they use different panels from the best spva >amva> smva.

"samsung panel lottery"? ehats that?

well curious customers in europe found out that 3 lcds of the same model all had different contrast and different color tints, since the same model either had a smva or amva or spva panel, the smva had the lowest contrast and washed out colors .this issue then caught the eyes of magzines and online review sites which confirmed that colors and contrast do have a difference.
so thats why they gave the term samsung panel lottery.
