confused all together

I want an audio system which would be able to produce true sound, but I am a sort of bass lover so it must be good in bass.
But the tricky bit is my budget, its 15k and I know that's not much.
I don't exactly need a home theater with all those connectivity options like HDMI and all so a normal surround sound speaker will do the job, I have shortlisted a few which I think would be nice.
I also wanted to know, what make the Onkyo HT series soo good? Is it the audio quality or the tonnes of connectivity options?
Please keep your sugetions under 15k, I would be using my PC or iPOD to play the music and my room isn't that big, here's my list:

Please Inform the AV showroom sales guy that you are in look out for a HTIB. So that there is a chance for you to get a better quality HTBI which is being offered along with LED TVs at a cheaper price. As you may be aware some of the TV buyers will not be requiring this free bee and would like to have a cash discount instead. In this case the showroom sales guy would be able to strike a deal between you and that customer for a descent commision for him.

This has worked out to one of my employee.
