Considering either a pre/pre or an AV receiver any suggestions

I have a Lexicon MV-5 in my sights, with plans to get( buy/build) a multi channel amp later. I have been a fan of "separates" and thought this is a better bet than an AV receiver.

Any thoughts/suggestions about other possible options?

Audire is introducing a 7 channel amplifier specially for movies. It might be worthwhile looking at that. This will be their usual Class A/B amplifier providing power and musicality way above comparable amps.
