costly speakers. why?

These days I am researching on speakers to buy for my av receiver (denon avr x2400h) and below question is comming in my mind and want to share with you.

speakers are costlier than av receiver; even speaker doesn't contain more electronics compare to av receiver. Why?

Great question! but I'm no expert here and seniors in knowledge can help you more on this. However what I think.. it also depends on general to renowned brands selling speakers. There are various factors involved too. Many of us prefer foreign brands for the obvious quality reasons, right. So the import duties play an important role here what we are paying and that all started from manufacturer to customs to distributors to dealers and so on. We in India pay hefty import duties.
A general bookshelves start from 12k a pair if you browse online sites and better one goes higher like from Micca->Mission->Polks->Elacs and so on.
A good pair of speakers can have intricate manufacturing process as an amp but not that much..is it?

But as you compared the cost of two different technologies, it might need a thought and I'm curious too Thanks!

Right you are and that's why I attached the recent priced images of RTI and that AVR and same applies to others too. I'm also Keen to know this stuff. Hope people will add their veiws here.

In the cycle of sound output the speakers play the last part of bringing out the best or worst in performance for any movie or music content...hence are very important and their built quality matters....the speaker which can output all or most of all frequencies between 20hz and 20khz is the most ideal....obviously clear undistorted sound at low and high volumes..pleasant to ears..

Very few brands have managed to achieve this....years of research and even trials and error have lead to a lot of evolution in speakers....nowadays it is more of branding, competition and business....make more money...not many are into research.....

The AVR or amp serves as a media hub for all digital or analog connections...helps to amplify the content to the speakers along with tonal or equalisation...special surround effects.....which thrill our minds and interests.....thats it and nothing more...so the best AVR or amp will not cost you a lot...speakers will...as they are the end product which leads to human satisfaction.....

Denon and Marantz made by D & M Holdings......Marantz is more expensive due to the different parts and built quality....there is a difference in performance........the taxes and import duties also add to the woes....

For almost 20 years now, i have used many brands...local made, imported...known and unknown....still keep changing systems after a period of 2 or 3 years use... just to get a flavour of whats there around and gain more experience as in why this or that is better.....

For some of us it is a hobby... for some it is an investment... or a serious journey.....its all on personal choices on how much we want to spend and be satisfied....hence i always say trust your ears and instinct.....choose wisely based on the appearance, performance and of course your budget.....advise can be given by many to help in shortlisting....the final choice should be your own....

In my personal opinion...it is more competition and business over the last 5 years and continues to be the same......i am happy with what is value for money and what satisfies my music and movie performance requirements....

I have gone through some of youtube videos for speaker construction. I think human resource is directly associated to speaker manufactoring (hand made). there is no automation(robotics) involve in manufactoring process like avr. this process may increase the cost.

In above video, only wood sheet has been created by machine.
