Hi All,

Thanks for all your welcome messages.

Just wanted to share my current video/HT set up:
32 inches Samsung Full HD LCD TV(forgot the model number)
Pioneer DV 220 K DVD player
Yamaha YHT-S 400 soundbar ampli/subwoofer combo(didn't want too many wires)

So far so good.

Interested in stereo set up now. Had a Panasonic SCM-10 micro component all in one, which is bi-amp, bi-wired(it was good at that time, 4-5 years ago). I listen to a wide variety of music with more inclination to Rock/Metal, Country, Jazz/Blues, 50's/60's/70's old hindi film songs.

Had checked out Denon M38 at ProFx, Onkyo CS 525 at Promises, CA combo at SKS. The Heart and the Mind is raging a battle since budget is a huge concern here. Have gone through Tirthankar's thread for stereo set-up and enjoyed the observations/comments and learnt about warm sound/tight bass/bright sounding but can't really understand deep detail as I am a novice in this field. Also got tempted by the HiFi Mart of the Marantz stereo combo (although not heard their sound) and got disappointed since there is no credit card payment option. Also considering Norge 2060 with a budget CD player and Tannoy bookshelf.

Cheers!!

C'mon People,

Help a fellowman out! Some feedback/suggestion on a budget audiophile stereo system(my previous thread) would be highly appreciated. Had checked out the NAD 326 BEE, like the sound but way to high for my budget. :o

Hi Utkarsh,

Thanks for responding. My budget is around 30-35K. Really in a fix! Had read about a rarely used NAD 326 BEE amplifier for around 18K on eBay, seems good but again not sure about the product/price. Also getting attracted to the Marantz CR603 network audio player.

To put it plainly-CONFUSED big time!!

gk 123, are you going to be using the Pio Dv220 as your source/player for music? Go for used speakers if possible and as for amplification, either go for used stereo amps withing 5-10k budget or Topping Tp20 at 4k( Kaushik has opened a thread where there is a cheaper model of tp20) or the Norge 2060. Try to allot the bulk of your budget to getting some good speakers.
For speakers wire, you can use 2mm sq finolex cable, just get required lengths in black and white color so that you can identify the wires.
You can get MX RCA interconnects for connecting dvdp to amp. They cost some 500 bucks on ebay.

there is a Norge 2060 for sale on HFV.. pair that with Norge speakers ( Bookshelves ) + add a budget CDP and you are good to go..

I just looked the the ebay link ask the seller for original pics and then decide.
If you are not in a hurry keep an eye on For Sale By Owner section you will definitely find a good speakers or you can go as suggested by iAudio.

Dear All,

Thanks for your suggestions, really appreciate. Would explore the various routes and shall post updates.

Cheers!!

Hi All,

After a slumber, am back. Speaker (BS) is decided-Tannoy Mercury V1 Custom. Heard it with a used CA 340A SE - Nice clear, detailed sound but lacked depth. Would the Marantz cd-pm 5004 combo which is on sale at HiFimart be better sounding with the Tannoy? Or should I go for something like the Marantz CR 603. :confused:Some quick feedback/suggestion would be highly appreciated as the plan is to make the purchase this saturday.

Thanks.

SKS is on Sarat Bose Road, near Puddapukur. I have visited the place. I feel their prices are bit high(it could be that they are not giving much discount on the MRP). Would be really great if somebody help in getting an attractive pricing from them.

I have also visited Digital Acoustics near Maddox square.

Yes prices are high at SKS but you can always buy speakers online at a better price.

Hi All,

Finally, took the plunge for my first hifi seperate system :-). Have purchased a CS 340 SE demo piece for the amp and Tannoy Mercury V1 bookshelf speakers. Now looking for CD/cassette player. Thinking about Marantz CD player(not sure if the combo of CA and Marantz would be fine). Any suggestion would be appreciated. Even ready to consider used machines in good working conditions.

Cheers!!

Hi,

I have bought the Marantz CD5004 and set up the system. the sound quality is very nice, crisp and clear. However the sound is forward and light/bright and not to my liking. So I am changing the amp-CA 340A SE. Anybody interested in the amp may respond.

Thanks.
