decison time again

Finally I decided to go to delhi and have audition before I buy. Looking for a speaker mainly for music.
I have shortlisted following speakers
1. Quad 11L Bookshelf
2. Monitor Audio BX 2 Bookshelf
3. Monitor audio BX5 Floorstander
4. Jamo C605 Floorstander
5. Wharfedale 9.5 Floorstander

Budget is below 50K but I feel I would not be able to stick to this :lol:

I have marantz 5006 (pls see my signature for rest of the stuff I have). definitely I am seeking inputs on the shortlisted speakers from forum. I may not be able to audition other brands due to limited time.

You should listen to the PSB (with NAD ) if possible. Even try the B&W. You dont change speakers all the time and its a importan decision and you might as well make the most of being able to hear them all in India now !

Quad 11L is fantastic. Haven't listen to BX5 but read some impressive review on them.

You should listen to the PSB (with NAD ) if possible. Even try the B&W. You dont change speakers all the time and its a importan decision and you might as well make the most of being able to hear them all in India now !

Thanks ! I don;t think B&w has anything which falls in my budget.I would stick to the brands/options selected because there are so many options and I do not want to start the search again. any inputs on shortlisted ones?

Havent heard Bx5, but Rx2 is better than BX5 I am told. Have heard Rx2 - good much better than Bx2 and also better than Quad 11L/12L esp better bass and good detail. Quad 12L2 has a great mid range but found it lacking in Bass. So suggest you audition both.

I personally was in a similar situation and settled for Rx6 finally.

U can consider B&W685 as well. Havent heard them but I understand they are also very good if you want a book shelf. I think finally its your personal taste. All the names you mentioned are good speakers.

auditioned Quad 11l,MA BX2, BX5, Dali 7, Wharfedale 9.5 and then RX6. Was pretty impressed for detail and clear, better bass. overall it was more musical for me than rest of the speakers auditoned.

Purchased RX6 finally.. now eagerly waiting for it to be delivered at my place :yahoo:

Pardon me.., guess I got it wrong.. . Some one else said that some newer MA speakers are going to enter in to the market and so Older ones were being sold for steal of a deal!!!

Infact the Audio people Store in Hyderabad sold a variety of MA series speakers @ Discounts. Upon asking some one had pointed that those were the older models and newer models are coming in to the market with some design changes

Are you referring to RX series speakers? The monitor audio uk site does not have any new speakers.. anyways speakers are not like electronics.. amps .etc.... and usually there are no radical changes in design.. if you like the sound they will serve you for a longer period. For me the older 9 series from wharf with warm signature was better than the new 10 series.

sorry, I saw this thread very late.
Congrats on your purchase! They are no doubt good speakers.
Just few points for others looking for something similar.

1. MA has RS series on discount. Ask Blasto. He helped me get a deal on thiels.
2. I heard PSB speakers (don't remember model number) with marantz AVR at Ashish Kesarwani's house. They were making lovely music. I am a fan of PSB+NAD but even with marantz avr (which was a very old one I guess) these bookshelves were so good.
