Hi,

I am getting Denon 1612 and Jamo 102 HCS5 (5.1) set having 210W sub woofer for around 57.5 k which includes brackets and installation.

Just wanted to check if its a good deal or can get better deal elsewhere in Mumbai.
Denon 1612 - 27 K
Jamo 102 HCS 5 - 28 K
Installation & brackets - 2.5 K

All with bill & warranty

Though my budget is around 50-55 K

Would appreciate for a quick reply...
 
Seriously, the sub is total junk. In my opinion you shd get good speakers alone. And get a sub later when you can afford. The sub which you end up now will be as good as not buying. So dont spend your money on it. It will be one hell of a noisy box without the capability to reproduce the lower frequencies. It is a subwoofer just in name.

See if you are open to a good pair of Bookshelves instead. The two front speakers are the most important as they reproduce most of the content. Even used or a decent pair of surrounds will do. Spend your money wisely. Dont be in a hurry. You can just get a good pair of bookshelves and buy everything else slowly in a few years. This is what I have done. I got just a receiver and front speakers. I will buy a sub soon. And rest god knows when.
Just simply dont compromise on your front speakers, and dont buy any sub.

In that case I seriously feel that I should settle settle for Onkyo 3400. That would save my money. Though have not auditioned it yet. Will go through Onkyo 3400 reviews from forum.

But one question, does active and passive subwoofer make much difference ?

Onkyo 3400 has no preout for subwoofer. So you can't to upgrade to a better SW later. However please audition Onkyo 3400 and check whether you are satisfied with it's performance.
