Denon 1612 shutting down problem

Thanks. Will look for that option if getting original Denon spare is a problem. With these spares the only problem is that we can't fix it to chassis for heat dissipation.
Is the original in Denon of TO-3 package?
Same regulator could come in different packages.

The TO-220 package ones have a hole through which you could screw a heat sink or screw it directly to the chassis.
Just confirm with the technician what the package is or click a photograph and post it.

I will post image of the ICs once I get the AVR back. They have fitted a local IC for now and I will get the AVR in two days.

^^ Don't know. I will post once they inform me the service charge. Next time if the IC goes fault, I'm gonna replace it my self. I know a little electronics and soldering.

Update: After waiting for over a month with the local service, I finally sent the AVR to KEI service center, Chennai and they replaced the faulty regulator ICs and left surround channel ICs. Received the AVR back on Saturday and tested it yesterday. It seems to work now. Cost splitup:

Shipping to Chennai - Rs.1200
Service Charge + Cost of replace items+ shipping charge - Rs.3500/-

Total comes to 5K after considering incidental expenses.

Sad that much of the cost is in shipping else you would have incurred only 1700/- perhaps.

Does that give us any reason to purchase AVRs of those companies whose service center is available in the city you live in? or closeby? I know not everyone can have that luxury but those who have, may think on this point as well.

I am sorry to hear that you had to pay close to Rs 5,000 for this service. This AVR service should have been done free (assuming that it is still under the year warranty).

I guess better to keep shipping in mind when we buy expensive equipment (like AVRs, speakers and other sensitive equipment etc).

Let us hope that this is the end of this matter and that you have no more service issues.

^^ Unfortunately the AVR is not under warranty. Shipping charge is really high since it is a 12KG pack. Rs.1200/- is the service charge. Rest Rs.2300/- for components replaced and shipping back to my home.
