Hi DIY friends,
Anyone tried development kit to build Media Player/Blue-Ray Player using sigma DMP SoC based boards?
SoC Chips : Sigma SMP 8642, 8644, 8652, 8654
Board providers: DMA, Vintage, BTC

Let me know if anyone has explored this.

these kits are available in Bangalore with Sigma's authorised distributor.

BTC model comes with Blue-Ray loader !!

You need to write your own navigation software with supplied SDK. Otherwise distributor provides software, which is too costly.

is it a linux based kit ?
we can try to port a GUI nav software .... probably open source one ...

Cost of the kit ?

IT will involve some time ..

if china BDP with same card r cheaper .. then no use of doing this DIY .
By next year many BDP willl be below 10k ...

cost should be around 10k.
If china BDP goes down below 10k next year, we shall do DIY next year. Surely the board will cost lesser than that at that time. Well, the idea is to explore that is DIY possible and if yes, then have fun to write your own software for self use.

So far, india distributor has not responded affirmatively. It seems, they are interested in selling boards to manufacturers rather than individual.

check direct china import ...may cost less
