does optical cable support dts

i've asus mini media player and sony bdv-e870 home theater with optical in, should i get dolby digital and dts audio if i connect both by optical cable?

Yes. It supports both DD & DTS (i.e. the compressed / lossy versions found on DVDs).

Yes it supports DTS and DD.. It will not be able to support DTS HD MA and Dolby True HD..
