Friends,
I purchased Pioneer BDP 180 yesterday & am comparatively a newbie here.
Please suggest if my player will produce a Dolby Digital sound, if I play movies using a pen drive/ HDD.

Note:
a. I use a Denon 1100 AVR...so the setup is capable of producing the sound format.
b. Source material (in Pen Drive) is a Dolby Digital format movie (atleast, I believe so).

As far as 3D is concerned, I can very well see brilliant 3D effects using the pendrive. But, am concerned about DD as it hasn't shown the format with all movies that I have tried using Pen drive.

Any suggestions, change in setting that I probably can do ?

You can check HDMI setting in BDp180.
Use "Bitstream" option in HDMI audio out setting.
Even old BDP150 supports DD/DTSMA played from pendrive.

Hi

Agree!

My friend uses the BDP 150 and I use the LX 55....both players are on Bitstream and do produce DD....it automatically lights up on the AVR provided the content is indeed DD or DTS....

Please go through the supplied Operation / Owners Manual to ensure that you optimally configure the settings...
