I guess you know a little bit about it (especially about 2.0 dolby) apart from company name and as encode-decode standard.

Just want to know about dolby. Like,

What does dolby do in stereo format? How does it affect the sound? How much improvement it makes to the sound? What's dolby noise reduction etc... I intend a discussion about dolby.

Dolby Noise reduction was used with tapes. To reduce the inherent hiss of the tape. First the frequencies in the range of that hissing noise were boosted up and then recorded. The player then suppressed this boost leading to a flat frequency response and lower noise floor. Depending on the kind of boost and later suppression various types of noise reduction algorithms were used. Type B was the most common. Try searching the web for more information.
