hey guys..i will be purchasing the reliance digital tv standard SD box and will be getting the very basic pack in a weeks time...my primary requirement is some regional SD channels and some other SD channels that my cablewala has stopped providing.

Tatasky is out of question because the channels that i want are currently not available in tata sky. So reliance and airtel..but mostly reliance as it is comparitevely cheaper.

Here are a few questions that i have and will appreciate every1s efforts for answering them. :)

1. Which one is better...reliance or airtel as far as SD channels PQ is concerned?

2. Will an HD box from reliance provide better SD content over the standard SD box...?

3. My tv tuner has s-video, composite inputs...will there be any problem in connection with the box and the computer ? I know there are various converters available..i was thinking of getting an s-video to component convertor...but as far as i know component inputs are only for video right..will i get audio along as well ? [bare me for my very limited knowledge:sad:]

4. the reason why i am having the tv tuner connected to the stb is because of recording...i would recording a few soaps and would burning them on dvds...will there be any compaitability issues between the tuner/stb or due to the software in reliance ?

heres a link for the specifications of my tv tuner card Technical specification and prices for Pinnacle PCTV 110i - TV tuners - Kolko.bg

All replies are welcomed and your time and help will be whole heartedly appreciated.

Thanx! Cheers !

Your TV Tuner card should have an audio input through a 3.5mm headphone type socket. You need a RCA to 3.5mm "stereo" cable for audio. You can use S-Video to Component converter or use the regular Composite Inputs.

HD STB will help only if you use HDMI, else SD STB should perform similar.

Thanx for the reply.

i wont be using hdmi as my tv doenst have an hdmi input neither does my tv tuner.

so i will stick to s-video for video input...using s-video to component convertors. and 3.5mm for audio input.

Needless to say, you could use some good PVR software to convert your PC into a Recorder. You could record your favorite TV shows, movies, etc.

yeah..my aim to connect it thru the tuner is because of recording.

Will there be any prob from the stb side...coz fr now i just plug my tv cable to back of my tuner card and no issues...but in the case of reliance i hv to first put the cable to the stb and then frm the stb to the tuner...will there b any prob frm the stbs software while doing this ?

btw..can u suggest me some good softwares fr vewing tv thru tv tuner with recording feature nd no compromise on quality ?
