Hi All,
Would someone know any contacts in Mumbai for repairing Dynaudio speakers? Kindly let me know...Thanks

Dynaudio do have a dealer I think...in Mumbai

Last exhibition they were present with a few models

What happened ?

If you need replacement drivers, you can write to Dynaudio directly and they will arrange for them through the Distributor.

check avr channels first..

interchange the speakers ( or speaker cables ) and see of the problem shifts..

i hope you would have tried this

OMG, Thats Bad and Sorry for that.Does the Speakers In warranty period ?

Are you sure the Speakers got Damaged ? Sometimes there is chance for Cross over be damaged and not Speakers.

Actually it might be the crossover n not the speaker...typically if the AVR trips what is the most likely damage that can happen to the speaker?

In a passive crossover there arent any components that can typically get damaged. All components usually have high voltages and current ratings. As per the diagnosis since the AVR tripped, high current flow through the driver voice coils could have opened the enamel coating of the voice coil causing it to short due to excess heat and change its Re and Z, thereby causing a muffled sound.

If you are having a ohm meter you can check the voice coil resistance to confirm this before you suspect the crossover components.

Thanks for the info...given that I am completely ignorant in terms of technicalities...how do you think I can repair this? Sorry for sounding silly...but there any particular component inside the speaker that needs to be changed?

The driver might need replacement IF the voice coil has shorted. Forgetting the ID of a Kolkata-based FM who does re-coning of vintage speakers. Other FM members can help here. Suggest take the faulty speaker to him, if possible. If the driver is found to be at fault, best would be to import the driver (most likely, a pair) from Dynaudio directly. Voice-coil linked issues cannot be rectified !

The AVR tripped... Since then one of the speakers sounding muffled...

Yes if I was not familiar with the innards of a speaker I would take it to someone who was. However I do NOT advise reconing or other local repair such as rewinding the voice coil as this will most likely NOT return the damaged drivers to original spec (aka T/S specs).

Once the damaged drivers are identified your best bet would be to import a set (be warned that drivers are pretty fragile in that they magnets can be knocked out of place by poor handling) as long as they are properly packed and labelled as fragile.

Forget all this speculation and take it to someone who will open up the speaker, check and determine what is wrong. Since you are in Kolkata, sidewinder18x is your best bet. Do it!

Hi, resurrecting this old thread.

I am looking for someone who can repair Dynaudio's in Mumbai. I think there is a problem with one of my speakers, there is a buzzing sound at low frequencies, and when I watch a movie if there is deep bass or an explosion there is a crackling/popping sound coming from one of the speakers. I have Dynaudio BM6. Is it possible to get it checked/repaired in Mumbai? Can I order replacement parts online? Would rather get these repaired then go in for new speakers. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, just bumping this again. Turns out there is a tear on the rim of the woofer rubber, which causes the buzzing sound when there is bass sounds. However that doesn't explain the loud popping and crackling that happens whenever I watch a movie.

I definitely think the speaker needs to be looked at by a professional. Any suggestions for service guys in Mumbai would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry for the delay. Attaching the image.

I have been able to source a replacement part, but they don't ship to India. So I will need to get it through someone in the US. Not a big issue, but will take longer than hoped.

However, once I get the part, is there any recommendations for someone in Mumbai who can help replace the part for me? I don't want to try opening the speaker myself as I may damage it (I am extremely clumsy when it comes to DIY, and don't possess the necessary tools or know how)
