Do we need to look for any particular specifications while purchasing HDMI cable to ensure that it will support eARC ?
e.g. the Amazon basic HDMI cable ... will it support eARC ?

No , it will not. Look for a HDMI certified eARC cable. Look for the certification qr code and do look for the replacement guarantee if the qr code doesn't work.
This looks genuine .....

Never buy any eARC cable which is not certified by HDMI org. There is a QR code with the certified logo. One needs to scan it using the HDMI app and see it's genuinity.
Uncertified cables are mostly fake. They will not support all the features and protocols of the eARC system. There are several cables claiming 8K/ 120Hz , lossless Dolby Atmos decoding etc...
They are all false claims. Only certified cables will assure your purchase with a positive result.
Earc is just another feature of hdmi 2.1
Earc can be implemented on HDMI 2.0b too. There are many cables available outside India. Yet to find one in India
