Has anybody bought and tried these Yuanjing 300W LME49810 + 5x 2sc5200/2sa1943 monoblocks yet? The Natsemi LME49810 chip is the successor to the LM4702, and has vanishingly small distortion with the right kind of output BJTs. At the moment, it's hard to beat the Toshiba 2sc5200/2sa1943 pair for overall price/performance.

New - 300W LME49810 Mono channel Audio Amplifier Board - eBay (item 230440057953 end time Feb-22-10 15:13:10 PST)

The $50 price point is fairly reasonable for these assembled monoblock boards, which include a speaker protection relay as well. Of course, if the bare board becomes available later, that could also be considered.

Original Toshiba c5200/a1943 are about Rs.100 per pair locally in Bangalore. The fakes are generally costlier, at anywhere between Rs.70 to Rs.150 each. The legit Magnatec clones of the c5200/a1943 are probably even cheaper, at say $0.60 each in volume, making it $6 for the power devices. The chipamp is $6.25, and the rest of the stuff is less than $8 - making a BoM of around $20. It doesn't include a heatsink, which is a big item on the BoM. The EBay price of $50 probably reflects a markup of 150%, which I'm willing to pay.

The a1943 has a poor SOA at high Vce. At +/- 60V rails, it's probably not much better than 1.5 A - I need to check the specs, but 5 pairs is a decent number with engineering margin for 300W RMS output. The version from Connexelectronic with 3 pairs is probably under-spec'ed; however, it does include a heatsink, which bumps the price up a bit.

Digikey has significant markups, even at volumes - they're probably paying Toshiba $0.65 each. Check out Peacock Industrial in Singapore for competitive pricing on all Toshiba devices, even at small volumes.

Nope, I haven't tested them at full SOA, but I've used them in discrete amps that have survived several major biasing accidents, so I'm confident that they're real. The capacitances, finish and markings are the same as the real Toshibas posted at DIYaudio.

Edit: Peacock has offered the original Toshiba 2sc5200 and 2sa1943 at exactly $1 (USD) each, for over a decade now.

Asian sellers usually handily trump US disty on price.
ATMega8 CPUs at both Mouser and Digikey are of the order of $3.5
I buy them in the local market for Rs 45/- and they are working fine for me.
I was amazed at the incredible prices that the vendors at SimLim in
Singapore have and they literally sell components by the basket.
From other accounts, it appears China prices are lower.

instead c5200/a1943 you could look at MJL 1302 / 3281 ..made for audio as well as much better fT i.e. gain bandwidth product which is a consequence of better SOA. I have been behind a design using them for a long time..will post some PCB cad pictures soon.

LME 49810 + MJL 1302 / 3281 in CFP configuration.

It's very hard to beat the original Toshiba c5200/a1943 on price/performance - the current quoted price on this pair is Rs.80 in Chennai. I'm using them in a Symasym/Goldmund clone, and they're very clean - stable, fast, sonically clean, and most importantly, durable and indestructible at typical rails of +/-25 to 35V.

You probably won't be able to get the LME49810 off-the-shelf in Bangalore. You can try asking Advance Micro Components on S.P.Road, who may be able to source it at fairly significant mark-up.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
