Hi Folks,

Yesterday I bought a pair of Elac of B5 for my secondary setup. They were supposed to replace by wharfedale 121 but when connected, I am surprised to find that the sound was not what I expected. The details and Bass are much lower than the my B6 which I have paired with My Marantz. I know that the Elacs are transparent to the setup and I have also auditioned them earlier and they are amazing.

I don't know what is wrong but may be the Elacs are just revealing the true Yamaha signature for music.

Have you tried B6 with yamaha?lf still results are similar, then its the yamaha sound whch is reflecting.

My experience is that they get lot better after a running in. Suggest to wait a while and see. Hope you rechecked connections etc.

I have found the reason - It was MultEQ XT turned on which makes a huge difference. If you turn it off, then the SQ is lower than my PM6004.

Hi, good that u were able to sort it out. Pl explain in detail so that its helpful for others. U mean with the sound mode its better and when off its worse. If it's good enough compared with Marantz either way then the amp is excellent.
