I have been on the lookout for a good projector for quite some time and have looked at a couple of models in Malls around Europe, but most of them were of average models for presentations. Then 2 days ago, I came across the Epson EH-TW5200 in Spain and went in for a blind purchase without reviewing the model, (in fact I was not even aware of this model but had heard a lot of the TW6100 and TW8200 on which basis I make the decision)

On searching for reviews I was surprised that there were not too many reviews for this model, and there is no mention of any forum member who has purchased this model in Hifivision which made me feel a little out of place. On checking the reviews further I realized that it is a European model and hence most reviews on European sites like Amazon.uk/.de etc. Many on this forum have compared it to the 2030, but on other forums in Europe they compare it to the 5910 as per the discussions with the service centre.

Though many sites have mentioned that the major drawback of this projector is the lack of black levels and the fan noise, all forums on Amazon are very positive in reviews of this model as excellent and overlook the drawbacks in comparison to its price. Its also referred to as a video game projector for its 450htz refresh rate (which is also excellent for its 3D processing.)

I have been impatient to check the projector, but will not be home till the start of November, so just purchased a HDMI cable and hooked it to my laptop and projected few mp4 clips (of 25 to 100mb size that were downloaded) on my bathroom door in my small cabin, and voila the image was really stunning and the auto keystone too works a wonder when positioning the projector in different positions. Even with all lights lit in the cabin, the image is crisp and clear. I have projected it from just 1meter and its projecting an image of appx 42inches. Its said to project a screen upto 352 and said to be suitable for even ambient daylight viewing which was important to me. I personally find it to be an excellent projector, low on power, good lamp life, and superb on clarity (but will judge better once it is professionally rigged at home)

Attaching a few images of some video clips of low resolution that I have projected on the wall (a door) taken from my cell phone (sorry about the bad location of projecting as there is no better surface). I have not altered any setting as yet, and the images are projected right out of the box.

Im eager to get your inputs if any of you have auditioned or owned this model, or any recommendations.

I have auditioned the same 3 months back it's good projector but in india dealers are pushing 6200 more as there is more dealer margin.
You have already purchased it so enjoy what suits your eyes and ears is more than go for reviews because every persons liking are different. Enjoy:yahoo:

Yes, the PQ looks very good. I have been using TW8200 for the last 2-3 months with a 106" screen. The PQ is just great even in daylight. We have almost stopped using our Sony 52" LED TV and we are hooked onto the big screen entertainment. I am sure you will also do the same. Enjoy...

Is there a small difference in price from the 6200 and the 5200 in India??? In reviews this projector is compared to the Benq W1070. Does Epson cover the warranty for European models in India?

Diff is approx 20k for warranty as per the epson guy if u purchased online or from other regions no support.no info on paid service.

I think Epson provides warranty only for products purchased within India. For items purchased from outside India, they may repair at a certain cost - just like a "out of warranty" case.

I have been told that the new government has imposed tax on all electronics imported in the country, can anyone confirm if it can be brought in hand without paying duty. I have done it in the past...

I am indeed enjoying the excellent PQ of this projector, in fact I have a LED LCD TV beside it and the LED stands no where close to it in quality and clarity.
I think watching movie on a big screen is always better than LDE or LCD TV. But to enjoy it you must have a big screen at least 100". In my case when I have purchased my epson tw480, went with a 6' x 4' (4:3) Local made screen. It was giving me a maximum 76" (Diagonal) picture. Well it's decent but not up to the mark.
Now last month I have replaced my old screen by an 'Elite Screen'. It's a 100" manual pull-down (SRM) 16:9 format screen. It costs me Rs. 10.5K from Kolkata. Now I an really feel the movie and virtually going deep in to the movie. It's an amazing experience. I have shared some screen shoots of my new screen.

Very nice Piks. Indeed it's gonna be a good experience to watch on a big screen. However for now I'm limited to projecting on the wall from a short distance. I can view just about 40" and it's still excellent compared to the lcd besides it.

By the way, you seem to have got a very good deal on the screen. For a 100" screen, 10.5k is avert good price considering its Elite brand.

Yes It's a very good deal. Actually the dealer had offered me that if I want the screen with VAT bill then I have to pay 10.5k + 14.5% VAT (for W.B.) otherwise it costs me only 10.5k. And without giving a second thought I have opted for 2nd one and it's resulting a 1.5k savings for me.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
