Last evening I went to Opus for a very good documentary called Finding Carleton-it traced the history of jazz in India, and featured a 70 something year old guitarist called Carleton Kitto, who lives in Calcutta, along with interviews with Louiz Banks, talked about how the African American players came to India in the 1930s as well as the WWII solders who lived in Calcutta etc.
It was about 75 minutes, very well done, and produced by Susheel Kurian, and the real bonus followed with a live performance by the Carleton Kitto Quartet. I believe there is a repeat this evening at Alliance Francaise. In case anyone can check and post the time, it will be good.
Definitely worth attending
