I have a Onkyo 3300 AVR and I have exhausted the HDMI connections now when my brother added a PS3 to it. As of now I have removed the Blu-ray player while playing the games to connect the PS3 and reconnect the Blu-ray player again when needed. Is there any simpler way of doing this without disconnecting each and everytime. I could use coaxial/spdif but would prefer HDMI cable over that. Is there any splitter available that could work without disconnecting the connection?

HDMI switches are available for such situations. Get a powered switch with remote control. Some will automatically switch to the live hdmi connection upon detecting signal. Try ebay.in

Slightly OT: Any reason why you wouldn't like to play Bluray on your PS3?

Couple of months back I bought a used Dune Univ.Bluray player from a friend and it has played all bluray discs that I have thrown at it. It is also very convenient since I do not need to check the discs if it is region free, region A, B or C since Dune plays all BR discs. I have started liking this player and moreover PS3 would be taken away soon for a new setup at my brother's place.

I agree with the above suggestions. If your display has multiple HDMI inputs, then you can connect your ps3 directly with it and then use spdif output to your Onkyo. You won't get HD audio and AvR's OSD but I guess its ok for paying games. Your BDP can be connected permanently to avr through HDMI.

Do not go for cheap switches, they are of very poor quality and they may not work sometimes. If you certainly need one, go for powered switch or splitter. They are available on Ebay.
