Hi Friends,

I bought a new Ford Figo - Exi last week. I'm now in the process of doing the ICE set up for it. I have identified the following components :-

HU - Alpine CDE-136BT
Front Comp - JBL GTO-609C
Rear Ovals - JBL GTO-949
Amp - JBL GT-X646 (2 channel to power front comps and the other 2 for rear ovals)

If you all can please help me with the following questions :-

- How does the above set up look ?
- Would JBL speakers with Alpine HU create any mismatch / problems in the overall SQ ?

Thanks in advance,

Best Regards,
Syed

The only thing you can change is add Polk Audio rear oval instead of JBL

Hi Utkarsh,

Thanks for the response :-).

Any specific reason why you say this ? Is Polk better than JBL. I listen to songs with heavy bass like "Boondon se Baatein" from Thakshak.

My vendor was also trying to push kicker over JBL 949. so any idea about kicker ?

Thanks for the help.

Best Regards,
Syed

Thanks Utkarsh,

I'll definitely go for an audition of kicker. Not sure about the version though. Also, can you please tell me the Alpine HU you are using ?

Thanks for all the help :-)

Im using a very Alpine CDE 100 this is a old model. All Alpine HU are good only u have choose based upon ur need (iPod connectivity, Bluetooth etc.)

What is ur budget ?

Thank Utkarsh,

Just one last question :-)

With Alpine as HU and Polk in the rear tray, do you feel

a) a need for Amp and if yes which one do you have in your set up
b) a need for front speakers and again if yes, which ones do you have in your set up

Thanks again for all the help provided.

Best Regards,
Syed

Polk has Fantastic bass response.Highs are clear, but have a warmer tone. If you increase the sound you will hear no sound distortion (but upto a limit). Although I have connected directly to my HU I am sure it would sound better if I you run an amp to it.
My friend run Polk with http://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=alpine%20cda-105&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alpine-usa.com%2Fproduct%2Fview%2Fcda-105&ei=JxOIT5TsG8_JrAeGsd2TCw&usg=AFQjCNH85AXkRvTLnAdo0HX_lF086V6NDQ

CDA 105 -HU

So back to your question
a) a need for Amp and if yes which one do you have in your set up
At present i dont have any AMP but will soon add to my setup cause im planning to put a small subwoofer but without AMP also im enjoying the Sound.

b) a need for front speakers and again if yes, which ones do you have in your set up
It depends on what size of front speakers fit in your vechile i think it is 5 x 7 then you can install infinity reference speakers.

If you don't find Polk then Infinity is the other best option.

Dear Utkarsh,

Sorry to have kept you bothering. Can you please let me know the Front components in your set up ?

Thank in advance,

Syed

Hi,

Infront I have Hertz speakers. I can't remember it's model no.

Hertz can be bit bright. But many people like it. It is matter of personal taste. So try to audition it before finalising. Btw, front speakers are must if you drive yourself. Do not skip it.

I never heard Focal. But I heard good feedback about it.

Where are you planning to get the installation done?

Mumbai...I. planning to buy the components from there and get it installed as well there.....

You seems to be from Pune...Do you know a good installed here ?

If you have the budget of 12k-13k, then go for rainbow slc sound line series, excellent sound quality, i believe they are much better than highly regarded focal.

If budget is less look at morel and hertz.

If you can get it done from Mumbai, do not bother with Pune installers.

As suggested by Audiodelic, Rainbow is also a good choice. Check if you can audition it.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
