Firmware Upadate WD Live

I have a firmware update for WD TV Live HD media player as 1.06.04. There has been several updates after this but I am not able to get the latest firmware update 2.01.86. The last update I have in the WD player is 1.06.04. I have tried connecting it to online to update but I get message that the firmware is current. I tried copying the files to USB and tried to update but that also not working as the firmware auto update is not at all starting. Tried even factory reset in the player but still have the 1.06.04 update only after the factory reset. Also did a hard reset in the player but still shows the same firmware after reset. Seems like the firmware 1.06.04 is stuck with the player and I am not able to upgrade by any means. Any pointers on what might be the problem?

I have updated mine, and did not find any difficulty to update that.

Hmmm..Ok Just found out this was a first generation player and the firmware update is current. Thought I would get the DTS HDMA update but for that I think I need to switch to the new breed of players.

Mine is also updated on the latest firmware and it is working well, without any issues.

I'm thinking of flashing it with the custom firmware of WDLXTV. There seems to be a lot that can be accomplished with this firmware than what the WDTV releases including NFS sharing, Bittorrent client etc.... Anyone done it?
