Hi DIY enthusiasts. I have been looking for getting myself 2 Subs to connect to my Yamaha RX V681 7.2 Receiver. Presently I own a Sony Active sub which lacks the oomph. After consulting many I realised that making one for myself would be cheaper as well as "fun"... (hopefully).

I have seen stuff on DIYaudiocart too. What I am looking for is making two Subs with about 8" drivers or one box with two 8" or 10" drivers which will take two LFE inputs. I want to challenge myself to limit the cost of driver and plate amplifier something like Forte - F135 - 200 Watts Subwoofer Plate Amplifier to under 10K each. Not including the cost of MDF and labour to make it.

Is it possible?
Can someone give me a lead where I can pick up drivers and plate amps to help me meet this challenge?

Thanks in advance.

Hi parambir,

my advice would be to make 2 subs, this would fill your room better, and instead of going for plate amp, make a stereo amp which you can connect to your 7.2 ch receiver and power the subs, much more versatile setup and economical too.
Good luck for your build.

Regards,
Aniket

Would these be kits or do we need to select every component based on compatibility?
